An advisory body has been established to gain a better understanding of these challenges. The Behavioral Health Workgroup meets regularly and will provide recommendations on supporting child and youth behavioral health and wellness.

According to the Wellbeing Index Survey 2.0 results, Santa Monica parents less frequently report spending time in community or public spaces like libraries and parks, and report less feeling of belonging to neighborhood.

The Vulnerable Youth and Families Workgroup meets regularly and will provide recommendations on supporting all SMMUSD students’ learning. To address the inequities in opportunities to learn among SMMUSD students, and in fulfillment of the district's shared values, SMMUSD has created the Excellence through Equity Action Plan.

Kindergarten readiness

IN PROGRESS: Advancing the Kindergarten Readiness Campaign


The SMC2C Kindergarten Readiness Workgroup convenes on a monthly basis in order to move forward the Building Blocks Campaign. The Workgroup is utilizing the Early Development Instrument (EDI) data to inform areas of focus. Two subcommittees have been formed to develop recommendations around expanding the Campaign’s focus on children prenatal to three years old, as well as to incorporate digital engagement strategies to expand awareness.

COLLEGE & CAREER READINESS

PROGRESS: Advancing College & Career Readiness


The Ed Collaborative meets regularly to increase access for all students to post-secondary education and training and to ensure the success of students in this transition; to build awareness of and increase participation in Career Pathways; and to identify research-based methods for increasing resiliency in students.
